The Secret of Success

The Secret of Success

There was an old stray about a certain king who wanted to know the secret of success. He was of the view that if he could find out the answers to three questions then he would discover the secret of success. So, he invited all the scholars and wise men of his country to his court to answer these three questions.

The questions were:
1. What is the most essential time to start some work?
2. What is the most important work to do?
3. Who is the most important person?

Several scholars and learned men of the country came to answer these questions and to get the reward of 5000 gold coins, but none could satisfy the king.

Then he went to meet a saint who lived in a jungle. The king was confident to find the correct answers from him as the saint was very clever. The king dressed in rags as the saint did not mix the rich. The king asked him his three questions. The saint did not reply. The king spent the whole day with the saint digging the ground, the king asked him questions again meanwhile he saw a bearded man who was wounded.

The bearded man reached there and fainted as he was bleeding profusely. The king dressed his wounds acutely that man was his enemy who now became his faithful servant. The saint now told him the answers. The most essential time for doing some work is at hand. The most essential work is what we are doing now. The most imperative person is the one whom we are with at the moment.
